Rachel's Unfiltered Story

The English Edition: deep dives into Vini Autentici

Vini Autentici © 2023-2025 è un marchio di ANTIDOTES

The Program

The Vini Autentici program will introduce us to artisanal productions of great Italian and international wines, extra virgin olive oils, and local foods, including quality cheeses and cured meats.

Wine and artisanal food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to participate in seminars and tasting workshops. Additionally, restaurateurs and sommeliers will introduce the popular concept of food and wine pairing.

We are continuously seeking individuals who are not only attuned to a myriad of social and environmental concerns but also actively participate in thought-provoking debates and vibrant film forums.

On that note, we would like to point out the location of our tasting room in the courtyard, which is exclusively designated for 20 wineries (the inventory of wines and wineries is currently being finalized).

To further enhance the experience, the event will be accompanied by the "Vini Autentici" organization's 1st People's Choice Award and two daily lectures.

The first lecture will discuss the Cesanese grape variety, led by Antonio Abbate and Piero Riccardi. The second lecture will focus on Japanese wines, with an emphasis on the Kondo Vineyard in Hokkaido. An exclusive tasting will be led by wine expert TOSHIYUKI HATTORI.

Our musical guests are The Fofocas Trio, led by Maestro Tiziano Gialloreto, who will perform in the afternoon on Saturday, November 22.

On Sunday, November 23, the film discussion will focus on the 2024 film "No Other Land," which was directed, produced, written, and edited by an Israeli-Palestinian collective that included Basel Adra, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor, and Hamdan Ballal.

Fabrizio Bielli will curate atmospheric music featuring garage, neo-psychedelic, and afrobeat sounds.

On Monday, November 24, the market display will be replaced by a private wine-pairing event featuring the winners of the 1st People's Choice Award for Vini Autentici 2025, accompanied by freshly prepared food from young, skilled Abruzzese chefs.

This last event will have a maximum capacity of 50 attendees and will be available only by reservation. For further information on the event or programs, please email info@viniautentici.it.

Who we are:

Vini Autentici's organizer, Antidotes, evokes an alternative approach to selling and the economy of artisan small-craft wines, based primarily on the interplay of knowledge and products.

It was founded in Abruzzo in 2018 out of a passion for environmental sustainability, biodiversity protection, and the promotion of ecological, short-supply-chain, and traditional agriculture.

About Vini Autentici and its purpose:

As part of its corporate social responsibility activities focused on dissemination and promotion, Antidotes is organizing a three-day event dedicated to the world of artisanal wine, made without the crucial use of chemicals and independently of the rules dictated by the agri-food industry.

Thanks to a favorable historical moment full of trade fairs dedicated to the wine sector, Vini Autentici, which is the name given to the event, aims to represent its specificity by addressing "other" issues that are not directly related to the world of wine, but rather to the life that revolves around it.

      Previous editions

The first edition in 2023 addressed the world of war with a strong appeal for peace and expressed a desire to host a photographic exhibition on Palestine. In 2024, the reference was to Søren Kierkegaard's thinking, encapsulated in the title of his work "AUT – AUT.

      This year's edition

This year, we want to draw inspiration from the term "komorebi"—a Japanese word that literally describes sunlight filtering through tree leaves and which brings us back to one of the messages of Wim Wenders' film "Perfect Days."

This year, we will focus particularly on the production of authentic, artisanal Japanese wines, with a seminar dedicated to them by one of the leading experts on Japanese wines and Italian culture, namely the gourmand.

The convent of San Panfilo Outside the Walls ( Beyond the Walls)

Legend has it that Panfilo's father ordered him to climb onto a cart and descend from Pacile to the Gizio Valley. At that point, the mountain was very steep and the cart would have fallen. Instead, the wheels of the cart sank into the rock, allowing Panfilo to descend slowly into the valley. It is said that the footprints of the oxen and the grooves made by the wheels of the cart can still be seen on the sides of the mountain.

The three-winged building with a central cloister was built by the Franciscans and dates back to the Baroque period.

Following the laws of the Kingdom of Sardinia, which led to the secularization of many ecclesiastical properties, the convent was re-purposed in 1866.

In 1892, it was purchased by Giuseppe Cerulli-Irelli, who entrusted the renovation of the façade to the German architect Ernst Wille, known for having designed many significant residences in Rome during that period.

Starting in 2009, the building, worn down by time and seismic events in recent years, has undergone considerable consolidation and restoration work in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in L'Aquila (a pilot project for a construction site-school), allowing numerous students in their final year of the Restoration Course to engage directly in the restoration of the frescoes in the 26 lunettes of the cloister.

At present, the former convent spans three levels. Following the Baroque layout, these levels, along with the church, delimit the frescoed cloister, which features a central well. The lunettes of the cloister feature two valuable cycles of frescoes, painted between the 17th and 18th centuries, depicting episodes from the lives of St. Francis of Paola and St. Francis of Assisi.

Vini Autentici will mainly take place on the second level of the building, between the cloister (which will be covered in November) and the adjacent rooms used for seminars and cultural events. The outdoor area and the magnificent garden will provide the setting and space for entertaining participants, including through the organization of cultural, food, and wine events.

The Drawing (Sketch) of an Idea

Silent Works

His name is Livio Taraborrelli, and he is a school assistant as well as a tireless athlete and musician.

He designed the venue for Vini Autentici. With few words and quick, confident strokes of his pencil, the result, already proven in the past, is that of the great masters. This is how the Convent of San Panfilo fuori le Mura, home to the third edition of Vini Autentici in Spoltore in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo, comes to life. Our tribute to those who explain the birth of an artisan project from emptiness to fullness, there and back again.

The Film “No other land”

No Other Land is an intense and moving documentary that tells the story of the destruction of the Palestinian village of Masafer Yatta, located in the West Bank, and the tenacious resistance of its community against Israeli occupation and forced demolitions.

Produced by an Israeli-Palestinian collective, the film offers an in-depth look at the daily lives of the residents, the tensions with Israeli soldiers, and the unlikely friendship that developed between Palestinian activist Basel Adra and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham.

At an event dedicated to authentic wine, which serves its primary purpose of preserving the land for future generations and promoting environmental sustainability, discussing lands beyond our own is almost a civic duty. Not only that! It is also a way of not turning our backs, because if we are experiencing a systemic crisis in the wine market and in consumption in general, it is also due to a series of abuses and misdeeds of which we are unconsciously guilty.

Palestine is one such case. For this reason, we are proposing a film forum in collaboration with those who are actively living this part of history, putting not only their time but also, courageously, their safety at stake.

Sunday, November 23, 2025. Presented by Elsa Flacco and Gisella Orsini. with the participation of volunteers from the Emergency Group of Pescara.

Watching No Other Land means immersing oneself in a complex and often little-known reality. The documentary does not merely recount the dramatic events linked to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. Still, it highlights the strength of a community fighting for its survival, the solidarity possible between people divided by conflict, and the importance of journalism as a tool for denunciation and resistance. The documentary No Other Land was filmed before October 7, 2023. Filming took place between 2019 and the fall of 2023, ending shortly before the events of October 7. This detail is essential because it clarifies that the film does not directly document events after that date, but rather focuses on a long history of dispossession and resistance in the Masafer Yatta area of the West Bank. The film was also presented as evidence of systematic abuses that long predate the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in late 2023.

Tiziano Gialloreto and his Band

On Saturday, November 22, maestro Tiziano Gialloreto will perform his latest album, Watching The Ceiling, live.

Net of any lateral thinking, side effects, or surreptitious philosophy, Watching The Ceiling is a concrete jazz album, whose classic idiom is reformulated according to the current norms of contemporary jazz.

As we have repeatedly emphasized in jazz, the title of various compositions or albums expresses a series of sensations and situations that are sometimes consistent with the melodic-harmonic development of the sound structure, and other times contrasting or antithetical, if not totally adhering to the sensations perceived or expressed by the author.

Often, in the mind of the latter, that particular title should be or become a sort of aphorism. It is clear that a title such as "Watching The Ceiling" by Tiziano Gialloreto is not precisely an aphorism, a proverb, or even a memorable phrase.

On the BLOG

Starting today, Vini Autentici is changing its digital strategy. It's not a fad. It's consistency.

If we organize events celebrating wines that resist industrial standardization, give a voice to producers who choose the hard work of manual labor over the easy yield of chemicals, and believe that the territory matters more than marketing...

Then we cannot communicate on platforms that turn us into products.

The problem with mainstream social media Instagram and Facebook are not digital marketplaces. They are supermarkets where we—users and creators—are the merchandise on the shelves.

Algorithms decide who sees what, not based on the value of the content, but on what generates more engagement, more time spent on the platform, and more data to resell to advertisers.

The result? Shouting content, clickbait, polarization. Anything slow, deep, or thoughtful gets buried. This is the exact opposite of the values that Vini Autentici represents.

Our migration

We embrace ethical and decentralized platforms:

1. Mastodon (@Viniautentici@mastodon.uno)

A federated social network. No algorithms manipulating what you see, no advertising, no data mining. Just people talking to people.

2. PeerTube (peertube.uno/c/viniautentici)

Videos hosted on ethical servers, not surveillance infrastructure. You can watch them without being tracked.

3. Our blog (viniautentici.it) Content that stays. In-depth stories. Long thoughts. No 15-second timers.

What about Instagram?

It stays. But its role changes.

It is no longer our home, but a bridge to those who don't yet know better alternatives. A way of saying, "Hey, there are other spaces out there. Come and discover them."

The main content —the profound content —the content that matters —will live elsewhere.

Why now?

As we prepare the 2025 edition of Vini Autentici, we asked ourselves: can we talk about authenticity while using tools that manipulate people?

The answer is no.

This event stems from the belief that there are different ways of doing things. That quality matters more than quantity. The territory resists globalization. That manual labor has dignity. Communication must also follow these principles.

The 2025 event: Komorebi

This year, we are inspired by a Japanese word: komorebi (木漏れ日).

It describes the sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees. A fleeting, delicate beauty that only exists if someone stops to look at it. This is precisely what happens with natural wine. And with genuine, authentic conversations.

Manifesto

By authentic wines, we mean those belonging to the world of wine commonly understood as "natural," free from chemical manipulation both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and attributable solely to the work of the winemaker, who, through his efforts, protects the land and passes it on to future generations.

Disclaimer

The organization of the event openly declares itself to be ecological, pacifist, and opposed to any form of war as a means of resolving international political conflicts.
